Kazuyuki Toda, the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, has returned to north London to observe Mauricio Pochettino’s coaching methods.
The 21-cap Japan international, who played four times for Spurs on loan in 2003, hung up his boots four years ago and recently completed his coaching badges back home.
Toda concedes he is not quite ready to coach professionally, however, so visited his old stomping ground to pick up some tips off Pochettino.
“Why I came here? Because (of) Pochettino,” the 39-year-old told SpursTV. “I think he is one of best coaches in world at moment. I only watched his training twice and was very impressed.
“I’m still a big Spurs supporter. My target is coming back to Europe as coach.”
Toda was brought to White Hart Lane during Glenn Hoddle’s tenure, and made his debut against Manchester City in April 2003.
The versatile midfielder went on to appear in three of Spurs’ remaining four fixtures that season, but returned to parent club Shimizu S-Pulse the following campaign.

He later returned to Europe with Dutch side ADO Den Haag, before playing out the remainder of his career in his homeland.
Toda remains the only Japanese player to have ever played for the Lilywhites.
