Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud and West Ham United’s Andy Carroll both scored brilliant goals against Crystal Palace in January.

West Ham United vice-chairman Karren Brady has mocked Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud in her football diary in The Sun.

The Arsenal striker was recently quoted as saying by The Independent that his scorpion kick goal against Crystal Palace in January was good enough to leave a mark on history.

“Andy Carroll’s goal is magnificent, but maybe people won’t remember it in two years’ time,” added the France international.

However, it was West Ham United striker Andy Carroll’s strike against Palace that was adjudged as the Goal of the Month.

“Cocky Olivier Giroud tells reporters his ‘scorpion kick’ goal on New Year’s Day was better than Andy Carroll’s,” Brady wrote in her football diary in The Sun. “The Arsenal star made the claim before France’s friendly against Spain.

“Giroud argued that Carroll’s epic leap and thunderbolt for West Ham was not in his league — yet Andy’s effort won January goal of the month!”

Giroud’s goal against Palace was stunning, but so was Carroll’s striker against the Eagles.

Perhaps in the coming years, both goals will be remembered fondly, as both were genuinely superb.

Arsenal striker Giroud has scored eight goals and created nine chances in 19 Premier League appearances so far this season.

Meanwhile, Carroll has scored six goals and created 13 chances in 15 league games for West Ham so far this campaign.

West Ham are 12th in the Premier League table at the moment with 33 points from 29 matches.

Meanwhile, Arsenal currently find themselves sixth in the standings with 50 points from 27 games.
