West Ham United vice-chairman Karren Brady has admitted in her football diary in The Sun that there is a growing anxiety at the club.
The Hammers are struggling for survival in the Premier League at the moment and are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.
Slaven Bilic’s side are currently 15th in the standings with 33 points from 31 matches, just five points above the bottom three.
The London club have lost their last five league games, and pressure is growing on Bilic.
West Ham vice-chairman Brady has given her take on the situation, admitting that everyone at the club is anxious.
“I would be lying if I denied there is growing anxiety over West Ham’s slide – it is two months since we won and haven’t scored a point in five matches,” Brady wrote in her football diary in The Sun.
“While we’ve had a stack of injuries, that should not be much of an excuse with the players we have,” added Brady. “Our staff have spent a hefty chunk of their lives trying to improve the club for fans.
“We fully support Slaven and expect him to turn it around — but at moments like this we have to understand that football, totally, is a results business.”
West Ham recently publicly gave their support to Bilic, but results needs to improve quickly.
If the Hammers fail to win their next two or three matches, would one really be surprised if Bilic is sacked?
Probably not, and maybe it would make sense. After all, no club would want to get relegated from the Premier League.
