Karren Brady has commented on Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge.

West Ham United vice chairman Karren Brady has told The Sun that she thinks Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge is a ‘wonderful player’ amid rumours of a move to the London Stadium.

Sturridge, 27, has struggled to play first-team football under Jurgen Klopp this season, starting four Premier League games and scoring just once in the league as well.

The former Chelsea striker has hit four goals in just two EFL Cup game though, and even scored the opening goal for England in their 3-0 win over Scotland earlier this month.

Given Sturridge’s quality and his limited role under Klopp, speculation has started to surround him and his future, with clubs allegedly keen on signing him.

The Mirror reported last week that Stoke City and West Ham United are both keen on Sturridge, whilst Bleacher Report claim that Tottenham are admirers and could make a January move having considered him over the summer.

Now, West Ham vice chairman Karren Brady has offered her thoughts on Sturridge’s situation, suggesting that he was left out of England’s side that took on Spain last Tuesday because of Jamie Vardy’s ability on the counter attack.

Brady then fuelled the West Ham rumours by admitting to The Sun that she thinks Sturridge is a ‘wonderful’ player, and urged him to ‘keep believing class will tell’ in his search for regular playing time for both club and country.

“No sign of Daniel Sturridge against Spain — and he might wonder whether his future in England’s starting XI hasn’t been damaged by scorer Jamie Vardy,” said Brady. “I think Sturridge is a wonderful player but even I could recognise Vardy’s value on the counter-attack.”

“Maybe Gareth Southgate might favour Vardy in many circumstances, just like Jurgen Klopp prefers others at Liverpool. Sturridge must keep believing class will tell,” she added.

Brady’s admiration of Sturridge may add some credence to those reports of West Ham’s interest, but with Sturridge reportedly earning wages of at least £120,000-a-week, the Hammers may find themselves priced out of a move for the striker.
