Birmingham City have appointed Harry Redknapp as their new manager. Redknapp has been placed in charge of Birmingham following the departure of Gianfranco Zola.

Zola resigned from his role as the Birmingham boss earlier this week after just four months in charge of the Championship club.

The Blues are struggling for survival in the division and are in danger of getting relegated to League One at the end of the season.

Former West Ham manager Redknapp has been placed in charge of Birmingham for their final three Championship games of the season.

West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady, who is a former managing director of Birmingham, has given her take on the appointment of Redknapp at St. Andrew’s.

“You can bet that Harry Redknapp’s ‘I’ll do it for nothing’ if Birmingham go down comes with the rider ‘but it’ll cost’ if they stay up,” Brady wrote in her football diary in The Sun.

“Harry admits he had not seen any of them play before his appointment. Spending a day on his knees praying in Birmingham Cathedral may be a good option.

“I’d hate to see my old club sink and a win in the derby at Villa on Sunday might possibly lead to Redknapp’s last appointment, at 70, as a full-time manager. They could do worse. They already have!”

Birmingham have a good team, and they should be confident of escaping the drop to League One at the end of the season.

The Blues will take on Aston Villa at Villa Park, Huddersfield at St. Andrew’s and Bristol City at the Ashton Gate Stadium in their final three games of the campaign.
