Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher is criticised by West Ham United vice-chairman Karren Brady for his recent comments about the Anfield club.
Carragher wrote in The Telegraph on October 13 that Liverpool will not win the Premier League title this season.
The Liverpool legend, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, also suggested that he does not envisage the Reds winning the league title anytime soon.
West Ham vice-chairman Brady has criticised the ex-England international defender for his comments about his former club.
“Carragher may be right speculating Liverpool will always be outspent by City, United and Chelsea,” Brady wrote in The Sun.
“But he is rather a comedian when he suggests Liverpool cannot secure the players, the consistency or, by implication, the manager to repeat the league triumph they last achieved 27 years ago — when Margaret Thatcher was Prime Minister.
“They don’t have much time for Mrs Thatcher on Merseyside and nor will they for Carragher if he goes on like this.
“There are many objections to be made, the obvious one is nothing is set in stone, as Leicester proved so satisfyingly only 18 months ago.”
Liverpool have not won the title in the Premier League era, and it is hard to see Jurgen Klopp’s side clinching the championship this season.
Manchester United, Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all have much better teams than the Reds.
However, things could change in the future. After all, Manchester City were not challenging for major honours on a consistent basis 15 years ago, were they?
It is going to be tough for Liverpool to win the Premier League title, but never say never.
