The Tottenham Hotspur striker was stamped on by the Slovakian last weekend.
Slovakia’s Martin Skrtel is sent off by referee Milorad Mazic
England took on Slovakia last weekend in a game won dramatically by a last minute Adam Lallana striker – his first for his country.
England’s chances were certainly helped by the sending off of former Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel in Trnava.
He was shown a second yellow card for a second poor challenge on Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.
His stamp was vindictive and should have earned him a straight red on its own merit.
It was a tackle the Spurs striker was lucky to walk away from, believes West Ham vice-chairman Karren Brady.
Writing in her column for The Sun she suggested Skrtel’s actions were in fact criminal, and that Kane was lucky not to suffer a serious broken leg:
“In a different context, the Slovakian ex- Liverpool defender would serve time for it.
“His is a calculated attempt to inflict serious harm on England’s striker and prison is the place for men who commit crimes of this nature.
“Skrtel behaves like a thug, yet his punishment is to be sent off, with a single missed match for two yellow cards. That would be laughed out of the Old Bailey.

“Football, of course, has its own rules but they are feeble in the face of deliberate assault.
“Kane could have been another David Busst, the Coventry defender whose career was wrecked by an horrific leg break. Kane had a very, very near miss.”
Liverpool fans were pleased to see the back of the unpredictable Slovakian in the summer and it is moments like this that show why.
His stamp was dangerous and whilst it may be hyperbolic to suggest he could have broken Kane’s leg serious injuries have occurred much easier.
Tottenham fans will no doubt be pleased he escaped unscathed from what was a nasty piece of thuggery from Skrtel.
