Maryan Shved joined Scottish Premiership champions Celtic for £2m in January and has scored 11 goals in 20 games for Karpaty Lviv this season.
Celtic have suffered a potential blow over the weekend with £2 million January signing Maryan Shved suffering a serious injury, as reported by Karpaty Lviv’s official website.
The Hoops completed a shock deal to sign the Ukrainian international from Karpaty Lviv during the January transfer window with Shved re-joining the Eastern European outfit on loan until the end of the 2018/19 season.
But the winger could now have played his final game for the club with Karpaty manager Fabri Gonzalez confirming that Shved missed the weekend’s 5-0 defeat at Shakhtar Donetsk with injury.
“Maryan suffered a bad injury when he tore an abductor muscle in his thigh,” Gonzalez said.
“He is one of our best players and his absence certainly made it far harder for us against Shakhtar.”
The reigning Ukrainian league Player of the Year, Shved has been in fine form this season with 11 goals in 20 games in all competitions. A winger renowned for his ability to cut inside and score stunning strikes from long range, he even scored a clinical hat-trick in a 4-0 away win at Vorskla in February.
But it now remains to be seen whether Shved will be fit to start next season in the green and white colours of Celtic – or whether he would be in the plans of the Scottish Premiership champions’ new manager.
