‘Karma’: Ian Wright says one Aston Villa player has gotten his comeuppance

Speaking on the Wrighty’s House Podcast, Ian Wright has been discussing Emi Martinez’s blunder against Manchester United at the weekend.

Aston Villa were brilliant against the Red Devils on Saturday, and they probably should have won the game as errors from Martinez and Morgan Sanson cost them two goals.

However, despite Villa deserving more than just a draw against United. Wright believes that Martinez’s error was a bit of karma for his confrontation with Bruno Fernandes earlier this season.

What’s Wright said about Martinez?

The pundit gave his view on the situation with Martinez and Fernandes.

“I saw some karma the other day guys with Emi Martinez and Bruno Fernandes. Bruno Fernandes’s weak shot went through Martinez’s legs. I though surely at some stage Fernandes was going to say something to him. Imagine now if Martinez pipes up when he’s trying to take a penalty, I’m going to say ‘get back on your line bro, and close your legs as well’,” Wright said.

Martinez got the better of Fernandes when he stood over the penalty at Old Trafford, but he gifted the midfielder a goal at Villa Park.

Indeed, this looks like it could be the beginning of something of a feud between the pair that could carry into next season, and with Portugal and Argentina both likely to be headed to Qatar next year, this one could surface on the biggest stage at the World Cup.
