Karl Robinson’s gut feeling is that Ezri Konsa will leave Charlton in January, amid links to Celtic and Spurs

Charlton defender Ezri Konsa has attracted major interest.

Charlton Athletic boss Karl Robinson has told the Charlton Athletic Supporters’ Trust that he thinks defender Ezri Konsa will leave the club in January.

The Addicks have helped bring through a number of Premier League players in recent years, with Jonjo Shelvey, Joe Gomez, Ademola Lookman and Nick Pope all earning moves off the back of their Charlton careers.

Another youngster stepping off the Charlton conveyor belt is defender Ezri Konsa, who has been on the books at The Valley since the age of just 12.

Konsa, 20, already has more than 50 first-team appearances to his name having impressed in League One, and speculation over the last 12 months has strongly linked him with a move to join Gomez, Lookman, Pope and Shelvey in the Premier League.

The Mirror reported in November of 2016 that Celtic were rivalling Premier League giants for Konsa’s signature, with Arsenal and Spurs – as well as Everton – also credited with an interest since the end of last season.

Charlton won’t want to see another young talent leave in the middle of the season having lost Lookman to Everton in January of this year, but manager Karl Robinson now seems resigned to losing Konsa when the transfer window re-opens.

Robinson has told the Charlton Athletic Supporters’ Trust that he would looking to move in January if he was Konsa, but urged Charlton to demand at least £5million for the centre back’s signature.

Robinson added that he would want to bring Konsa back to Charlton on loan, much like he did with Dele Alli at Milton Keynes Dons after selling him to Tottenham in 2015.

“My gut feeling is that he will go in January,” said Robinson. “If I was him I’d be looking to go in January but we should look for £5m minimum. Maybe we could try for a loan back but the player has to want that,” he added.
