Leeds United were beaten 4-3 by Leeds United on Tuesday night.
Oxford United boss Karl Robinson has told the Oxford Mail that he was disappointed with Leeds United’s line-up against his side on Tuesday night.
Leeds continued their pre-season preparations on Tuesday night with a trip to the Kassam Stadium, and endured a difficult outing against the League One side.
Winger James Henry put Oxford into an early lead, and after Rob Hall made it 2-0, Henry capitalised on Will Huffer parrying the ball back into the area by sticking away a third goal for Karl Robinson’s side.
Ex-Oxford loanee Tyler Roberts pulled one back for Leeds, only for striker Jonathan Obika to re-establish the three-goal lead for the hosts, thought goals from Lewis Baker and Jack Clarke did bring Leeds back into the game.
Leeds ultimately ended with a 4-3 defeat, and whilst fans won’t be too concerned about a pre-season friendly, manager Marcelo Bielsa will be continuing to make decisions about his squad.
Bielsa did just that on Tuesday night, as his line-up contained young players such as Huffer, Jamie Shackleton, Hugo Diaz, Oriol Rey, Jack Clarke and Sam Dalby.
Few of Leeds’ top players featured at the Kassam Stadium, and whilst Bielsa will have been glad to see youngsters in action, opposite number Karl Robinson wasn’t quite so impressed.
Robinson has told the Oxford Mail that he wasn’t impressed with the Leeds line-up, suggesting it would have been nice for fans to know that key players wouldn’t be appearing – but ultimately, Bielsa has to do what is right for his Leeds side.
“It would have been nice to know they weren’t bringing certain players for our fans,” said Robinson. “It’s not my problem, but at least tell us, as we do with everyone we play,” he added.
