The Charlton Athletic youngster has been linked with Everton, Arsenal and Liverpool.
Charlton Athletic manager Karl Robinson has been speaking about interest in his young centre-back Ezri Konsa, with his comments published online by the Daily Star.
The report suggests Everton are among the clubs interested in the 19-year-old, along with Liverpool and Arsenal, and Robinson has confirmed that top flight clubs have been in touch to discuss a potential move for a player who is also comfortable at right-back.
“We’re getting phone calls about Ez from Premier League clubs,” the Addicks boss told the Star. “They’ve been asking for a price tag. We’ve got a high one.
“The boy won’t go until they meet our criteria.”
Citing the example of Ademola Lookman, who swapped Charlton for Everton back in January, Robinson admitted that they have to sell certain players if they receive an offer too good to refuse. But it seems that, for now at least, that has not been the case with Konsa.
Lookman impressed on his Everton debut, scoring in a 4-0 victory against Manchester City. However this season he has struggled for minutes ,even though the Toffees have needed more pace and creativity in wide areas.
When it comes to Konsa, he would have a battle on his hands to feature regularly in the heart of Everton’s defence, with Michael Keane, Ashley Williams and the ageing Phil Jagielka currently competing for spots and Ramiro Funes Mori side-lined through injury.
But such is his talent that he will surely move to the Premier League sooner or later, with his 50 senior appearances for Charlton proving his innate quality and defensive nous.
As Robinson said, the player will only move on Charlton’s terms. The question is: Will Everton accept that or move on?
