Newcastle’s winning run came to an end at the weekend, and they will look to get back to winning ways when they face Hull City in the EFL Cup.
Newcastle United goalkeeper Karl Darlow has said he is glad they have an EFL Cup tie against Hull City coming up so soon after they were beaten by Blackburn Rovers at the weekend, the Chronicle reports.
The Magpies’ winning run came to an end after they were defeat 1-0 by Owen Coyle’s side – which sees their lead at the top of the Championship cut to just two points.

Rafa Benitez made several changes to his side as he looks to steer his side through a busy fixture period, which sees them travel to the KCOM Stadium to take on Hull tomorrow, and then the City Ground on Friday night to visit Nottingham Forest.
Darlow is quoted in the Chronicle, saying: “It’s good to have the cup game so close.
“We’ve got three games this week, so we know we’ve got to brush this off pretty quickly and get on with things.
“Getting this far in the cup means we’re going to be kept busy, and that’s fantastic for the club.
“It’s a big week coming up, and we need to put this behind us and get on with it now.”

You could perhaps forgive Newcastle for getting a little distracted by the upcoming quarter-final clash they have against the Tigers this week, as they will see it as a real opportunity to get to the last four of the competition, and as a result have a real shot at getting to Wembley.
It seemed as though Newcastle were going to run away with the Championship but the weekend’s defeat is a reminder that there can be slip-ups along the way, and provides them with an opportunity to regain their focus and get things back on track in the coming games.
They are still in a strong position in that they are six points clear of the play-off places but will be keen to bounce back and put this defeat behind them. Sometimes sides can have off days, Newcastle need to ensure it was just that.
