Karim Benzema’s expected move to Al Hilal appeared to be nearing completion before a dramatic late twist placed the transfer in doubt.
Overnight reports had suggested the Saudi Pro League switch was all but done, with agreement believed to have been reached.
However, fresh information now indicates the situation has changed abruptly, with the former Ballon D’Or winner’s future up in the air.

Karim Benzema’s Al Hilal move suddenly in doubt
Yesterday, Patrick Berger reported that Karim Benzema was close to joining Al Hilal on a 1.5-year contract after talks progressed quickly.
The French forward was open to the move after contract extension negotiations with Al Ittihad collapsed, with the deal framed as a major internal Saudi Pro League transfer.
Those reports emerged late on February 1 and suggested the agreement was close to being finalised.
Late update leaves transfer completely open
Journalist Patrick Berger has since provided a new update suggesting the situation has shifted significantly.
According to Berger, there are now no limitations on Benzema’s future, as the deal between Saudi Arabian giants seems to have collapsed.
“Everything is now completely open! Karim Benzema’s deal to Al Hilal is on the verge of collapsing. Crazy situation in.”
With talks now unstable, the future of the transfer remains uncertain as all parties reassess their positions.
