It would be understandable that some Middlesbrough fans are already starting to hit the panic button on their season. Following the poor 1-0 loss at the hands of Watford, there has been increasing outrage among supporters regarding manager Aitor Karanka as well as the overall state of the squad. With so much uncertainty around the club it would seem as if they are in complete free fall, however as reported by Gazette Live the Spaniard believes that he can turn their fortunes around.

Boro currently find themselves down in 17th with just one win from their opening eight league games and only goal difference keeping them out of the relegation zone. Despite everything going against them recently, Karanka has maintained his belief in the squad.

“I know that this isn’t a nice moment for everybody,” Karanka said to Gazette Live.

“But we’re in the Premier League, we’re in October, so we have to be positive.

“We have to recover physically and mentally. We have a good group of players, a strong group of players, so we have to keep going.

“Of course, I am positive. If we can’t believe in ourselves then who can believe in us?”

They are likely going to need all the belief in the world over the next few weeks given the quality of sides they are set to face. However, they are set to be boosted by the return of captain Grant Leadbitter.

Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea are all on the horizon for the Teessiders as they continue to try and avoid an instant retain to the second tier.
