N’Golo Kante and Idrissa Gueye are two players who have so far stood out at their new clubs this season.
For £7 million, Idrissa Gueye is without doubt a bargain for Everton
There are a lot of similarities between Kante and Gueye – both play in the same defensive midfield position with the ability to get forward, both joined new clubs this summer and both midfielders are arguably the best signings their teams have made this transfer window.
Kante joined Chelsea from Champions Leicester for £32 million, while Gueye joined Everton from newly-relegated Aston Villa for £7 million.
N’Golo Kante has lived up to his £32 million price tag at Chelsea
Everton certainly got the best bargain option of the window with Gueye. For £7 million, Gueye is a player who has exceeded fans expectations, and since joining the club, the Senegal international has arguably been the Toffees’ best player.
The 26-year-old has the ability to win the ball high up the field and turn a defensive situation into an attacking one. Gueye played a big role in the Toffees 3-0 victory against Sunderland last night, providing a great cross to allow Romelu Lukaku to head the ball in the back of the net.
Kante has also been the star man in Chelsea’s side, his great technique has proven why he is already an important role in Antonio Conte’s squad. The France international was of course the player who helped guide Leicester to win the Premier League last season.
The midfielder has left a big hole in the Foxes side, but Leicester’s loss is Chelsea’s gain and with Kante in their team – The Blues are already looking like early title contenders.
With four games played so far this season, which player is on top right now?
Statistically, the Everton man has the edge over his fellow anchorman. Kante has made 0 assists, 7 tackles and 2 take-ons, but Gueye is in superb form as an all-round midfielder and has made 1 assist, 15 tackles and 7 take-ons.

Gueye has been the surprise of the season, his new partnership with Gareth Barry has been a joy to watch. Some Everton fans questioned Ronald Koeman’s decision of signing Gueye, but the Dutchman and his signing have proved fans wrong – the Senegalese star is the one to watch this campaign.
