The 25-year-old has reportedly chosen to join Arsenal this summer.

Leicester City star N’Golo Kante has indicated to his agents that he would like to join Arsenal this summer, according to Get French Football.

The Premier League-winning midfielder has played a huge role in helping the Foxes to their fairytale achievement this season, and courting some pretty sizeable admirers in the process.

It was reported by ESPN this week that Manchester City had the edge over the Gunners in the race for the Frenchman’s signature, but according to Get French Football, Kante would prefer a move to North London.

The report goes on to claim that the 25-year-old has a €25 million release (£19.6m) and that his representatives have given Wenger the go-ahead to activate it.

If true, Kante would represent quite a coup for Wenger, who has come under scrutiny this season for yet again failing to end Arsenal’s 12-year trophy drought.

Kante’s reported decision may perhaps be motivated by the fact that he would be the fourth French member of Arsenal’s first team – including Wenger – if he were to secure a switch to the Emirates.

He was named in the PFA Team of the Season this year, and he would compete with compatriot Francis Coquelin for a defensive midfield role.
