Harry Kane has told Monday Night Football, which was broadcast on Sky Sports, that he has been impressed by Tottenham Hotspur’s Gareth Bale in training.

Bale was an unused substitute for Tottenham last night, even as they chased a goal against Burnley.

That, perhaps, shows how much fitness work Bale still needs to do before he is fully up to speed.

But Kane is still delighted that the Welshman has arrived at Tottenham this summer.

“He’s been great. Great to have around the changing room,” Kane said.

“He’s come and didn’t have a pre-season but there’s a long way to go. He looks sharp in training and he is just waiting for an opportunity. When it comes he’ll be ready to take it. Like a lot of the players in the squad. There’s a couple left at home today who have been great this season.”

Kane’s comment at the end may well have been directed towards Dele Alli, who did not even make the squad last night.

Alli was left at home by Jose Mourinho again, as his difficulties at Tottenham continue.

Spurs ultimately did not need Alli or Bale yesterday though, as they collected the three points without the pair.

Tottenham won 1-0 at Turf Moor with a headed effort from Heung-Min Son proving the difference between the two sides.
