Everton are poised to sign Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun.

Don Hutchison has told Sky Sports that he sees a ‘Harry Kane-esque’ clinical quality in Everton-bound striker Cenk Tosun.

Having failed to replace Romelu Lukaku over the summer following his move to Manchester United, Everton were always going to be in the market for a new striker this month.

A run of just one goal in the last four games under new boss Sam Allardyce has intensified the need for a new goalscorer, and Everton have almost landed one.

As reported by The Mirror, Besiktas ace Cenk Tosun is on the verge of completing a £27million move to Goodison Park, after an impressing with the Turkish giants.

The 26-year-old hit 50 goals in his first three seasons with Besiktas, and boasts an impressive record this term of 14 goals in 24 appearances in all competitions.

Tosun will now head to Merseyside, potentially making his debut against Liverpool this evening, and fans may be keen to learn more about the imminent Everton signing ahead of his move.

Now, former Everton ace and current pundit Don Hutchison has told Sky Sports that he thinks that Tosun will prove to be very good value at £27million, given that some full backs cost £50million in the current market.

Hutchison even added that he thinks Tosun is clinical on either foot, just like Tottenham striker Harry Kane, but he doesn’t think the Everton new boy will be a 20-goal-a-season hitman for the Toffees.

“In Tosun, Everton are getting a very good player for quite a cheap price. What is £27m now? As Jose Mourinho said, teams are spending £50m on full-backs these days,” said Hutchison. “So if you can get a centre-forward at half that price who can get double figures for goals every season, then great. I’m don’t necessarily believe in stats, I prefer to watch players. I watch people like Harry Kane on his left foot. He scores goals and he doesn’t panic.”

“I watch Cenk on his left side and I see that he’s Harry Kane-esque in how clinical he is. It will take him a little time to get up to speed but he’s only 24 so he has time to improve. I don’t think he’s ever going to be a striker who gets into the high 20s for goals, but if he can get 10 or 15 goals in his first couple of years and Sam can improve him as a player, then all of a sudden £27m will look very good,” he added.
