On Wednesday, Sport Bild reported that Real Madrid have now joined Bayern Munich in the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur striker, Harry Kane.

Kane, whose contract expires in 2024 at Tottenham has been heavily speculated with a transfer to Bayern in the summer.

And in July, the England captain turns 30, which means his next career decision regarding his future his last and final chance of making a big move.

In our view, if Harry Kane decides to leave Tottenham in 2023, he should reject a potential move to Bayern Munich to join Real Madrid instead.

Bayern struggles and the Bundesliga’s reputation

For starters, Bayern Munich have not been the all-conquering force under Julian Nagelsmann since his appointment in 2021, which should be a red flag for Kane.

Last season, Bayern finished a mere 8 points above a Borussia Dortmund side in crisis to become Bundesliga champions.

While the German giants are currently 1st in the league, it remains a shock how Union Berlin were at the top of the table for a chunk of the campaign.

In the Champions League last season, Bayern went out to underdogs Villareal in the quarter-final, which was an atrocious result to say the least.

This is not to suggest that Harry Kane to Bayern would be a poor move, but with the club not being the unstoppable juggernaut they usually tend to be, it may be slightly risky.

For context, the Bavarian side finished 13 points ahead of the 2nd best team in Germany in both seasons under Hansi Flick, while winning a sextuple while they were at it.

Aside from the facts on show, Kane should perhaps head to Real Madrid instead of Bayern, as the Bundesliga is looked down upon by many.

With players that have failed to light up the Premier League emerging as the league’s best players such as Kai Havertz, Jadon Sancho and Timo Werner recently, ‘Bundesliga tax’ has become a common phrase associated with the league.

And with the Champions League being a lottery in some senses, if Harry Kane fails to win the competition and only lifts the German top-flight trophy for the most dominant force in the nation for the past decade, his detractors will claim he barely made any impact.

Speaking of the Champions League, if there is a club that are inevitable winners of the competition for all practical purposes, it is Real Madrid, which should entice Harry Kane.

Considering it is the most prestigious club trophy of them all, Kane has the golden opportunity of shedding away the unfair ‘bottler’ tag and be globally regarded as a ‘serial winner’ amongst the masses.

Plus, Los Blancos are operating at a level higher than not just Bayern Munich but most teams in the world.

Just last season, Harry Kane, like the rest of us witnessed Real Madrid win the double in style.

And while Luka Modric and Toni Kroos ageing, Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni have already been brought in as their successors.

Additionally, one would expect that the Spanish giants are favourites to land Jude Bellingham in 2023 as well.

In terms of the squad at their disposal, the future-proofing of the roster and their current performance, Real Madrid have an edge over Bayern Munich, which is why Harry Kane should pick the former over the latter.

And if that isn’t enough, La Liga is still widely viewed as the superior league to Bundesliga, which will further enhance Kane’s reputation.
