Harry Kane could miss the Manchester United match this weekend so how will Tottenham cope without him?
Mauricio Pochettino, manager of Tottenham Hotspur, pats Harry Kane on the back after he is subbed during the Premier League match against Liverpool.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has delivered some worrying news ahead of their Premier League clash with Manchester United on Saturday (October 28).
When asked by beIN Sports following the 3-2 Carabao Cup defeat to West Ham United whether Harry Kane is a doubt for the match at Old Trafford, Pochettino responded: “We’ll see.”
Kane left the field in the closing stages of Spurs’ 4-1 league triumph over Liverpool last weekend clutching his hamstring and was not included in the squad for the midweek game with the Hammers.
Having beaten the Reds so emphatically to move level on points in the table with the second-placed Red Devils – who were beaten by Huddersfield Town in their last top flight fixture – Tottenham would have been confident of leaving Manchester with all three points.
However, without topscorer Kane that is a much more difficult task, with the North Londoners having once again heavily relied on the England international for their goals this season.
Harry Kane (r) celebrates with Dele Alli after scoring the fourth goal and his second of the game during the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.
The 24-year-old has eight in nine in the English top tier and 13 in 12 in all competitions so far in 2017/18. In contrast, Heung-min Son and Fernando Llorente, who started upfront against West Ham in the absence of Kane, have two in 13 and none in nine respectively.
Pochettino has deviated from his usual 3-4-3 in recent times, playing a 3-5-2 against both Real Madrid and on Wednesday (October 25) night, but without the man who has scored 112 goals in 177 outings for the club to date, breaking down the defensive strength of Jose Mourinho’s United will not be easy.
