Everton are yet to confirm Ronald Koeman’s permanent successor at Goodison Park.
Former Everton winger Andrei Kanchelskis has told TalkSPORT that the club should place their faith in current caretaker manager David Unsworth – but stated he would come back “in any capacity” if needed.
Kanchelskis, 48, played for the Merseyside outfit for two years between 1995 and 1997, after leaving Manchester United following four years at Old Trafford.
In a glittering career that includes two Premier League titles, 36-time Russia international Kanchelskis also turned out for Glasgow Rangers, Fiorentina and Dynamo Kiev and has now furthered his career in football by entering coaching.
Kanchelskis stated that Everton should stick with Unsworth, and Duncan Ferguson alongside him, but also stated that he would come back to Everton if they required help in getting the Toffees back into the race for the top six.
“I like David Unsworth and it would be best to keep him and Duncan Ferguson [alongside him] until the end of the season and see what happens,” Kanchelskis said.
“Being Everton people they also know what is required at such a club and I think they will get Everton back up the table. I would go back to Everton in any capacity if they wanted me to go and help.”
“I have been coaching in Russia and why not go back to Everton? They just have to ask. I would help in any way at Everton, if they want me to. I am ready.”
Everton currently sit in 16th place with 12 points from 12 games after coming from behind twice to earn a point against Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon at Selhurst Park.
Unsworth is set to take charge of his sixth game during his interim spell on Thursday night, as Everton go up against Serie A outfit Atalanta in a match that means nothing as the Toffees have already been eliminated from the Europa League.
