Leeds United and Wigan Athletic drew 1-1 this week but their midfielder stood out.

Leeds United were left kicking themselves after a stoppage-time goal from Shaun MacDonald ensured Wigan Athletic left Elland Road with a point on Tuesday evening.
The Whites led courtesy of a Chris Wood strike and with the clock ticking down it looked like Garry Monk’s side would secure another huge three points.
However, Wigan had other ideas and the final result left Leeds fans wondering where it all went wrong.

Despite the disappointing result there were plenty of reasons to be positive, not least the performances of Pontus Jansson and the much-maligned Kalvin Phillips.
The centre-back has earned plaudits week in, week out, but Phillips also deserves praise after a standout 90 minutes, even if some Leeds fans still question his contribution.
| Passing Accuracy | Outfielder Block | Duel Won | Aerial Won | Interception Won | Won Tackle | Ball Recovery | Dispossessed | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kalvin Phillips | 84% | 1 | 8 | 4 | 4 | 4 | 11 | 1 | 90 |
Against Wigan, the Leeds youngster had an impressive 84 per cent passing accuracy while he recovered the ball 11 times and was dispossessed just once all evening.
Phillips also won eight duels, four aerial battles, four interceptions and four tackles, proving that Leeds can compete in the absence of Liam Bridcutt.
Whatever happens with Leeds for the rest of the season, it is clear that 20-year-old Phillips is yet another Elland Road youth product destined for big things, even if he still has some of his own fans to win over.
