- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
HITC understands that Ipswich Town have reached an agreement with Manchester City over Kalvin Phillips.
The 28-year-old was free to leave the league champions this summer after struggling to settle at the club.
Kalvin Phillips joined Manchester City for £45million in 2022 but never made his way into Pep Guardiola’s plans with the City boss branding him “overweight” when he returned from World Cup duty.
The England international joined West Ham on a six-month loan but only further damaged his reputation during a disappointing stint in the capital.
Phillips impressed during pre-season in a new role and he is now set to secure another loan move this summer.
HITC is told an agreement in principle has been reached by Ipswich Town to take Phillips on loan for the 2024-25 season.
Premier League duo Everton and Fulham had both held talks with Phillips but Ipswich have now reached an agreement for the former Leeds United midfielder.

Kalvin Phillips stance on joining Ipswich Town
Phillips was seen as a major coup for City when signed from Leeds, with the Yorkshire-born midfielder becoming a fan favourite at Elland Road for his work-rate and passing ability.
But for one reason or another, it has not worked out for him in Manchester and a move away this summer was inevitable.
Even after a disappointing spell at West Ham there was always going to be Premier League interest in Phillips and he will be a key signing for Kieran McKenna and Ipswich.
HITC is told that Phillips is open to joining Ipswich this summer and is ready to link up with the newly-promoted side.
After missing out on regular first-team football and his spot in the England setup, a loan move to Portman Road gives Phillips a chance to rediscover his form.
Ipswich will hope to have Phillips on board by the time they kick off their Premier League campaign with a difficult opening fixture against Liverpool.
