It’s seemingly just a matter of time before Arsenal sign Ben White from Brighton, and after Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips’ latest tweet, it may not be long before the centre-back joins the Gunners.
Indeed, according to Charles Watts, Arsenal are just waiting on White to come back from holiday for him to do his medical before being announced as the Gunners’ third summer signing.
“In terms of other transfers, the medical for Ben White, the hope is that that’s going to happen next week at Arsenal, the deal has all been agreed, personal terms aren’t an issue, it’s just a case of getting a medical done once his holiday is over. Arsenal are hoping that that’ll be next week and that when that’s done he’ll be confirmed as the third signing of the summer,” Watts said.
So, Arsenal’s timing on this announcement is seemingly dependant on when White is back in the country, and based on Phillips’ latest tweet, it may not be long before White’s medical is underway.
After their exploits at Euro 2020, White and Phillips, two former Leeds teammates, jetted off on holiday together, and with the Yorkshire Pirlo’s six-word message ‘it was fun while it lasted’ indicating that their vacation is over, White should be free to finalise his Arsenal move in the coming days.
Of course, in this day and age with numerous travel restrictions and quarantine rules, this move could be held up for a little longer, depending on where White and Phillips have been holidaying, but with professional sportsmen often being exempt from these types of rules, White getting his medical done promptly shouldn’t be an issue.
