There were worrying scenes at the Riverside as Leeds United’s Jack Clarke was treated on the bench.
Kalvin Phillips has revealed to LUTV that Leeds United team-mate Jack Clarke is ‘feeling alright’ after his health scare at the Riverside today.
The 18-year-old winger was taken to hospital during Leeds’ 1-1 draw at Middlesbrough after falling ill while on the bench in the second half.
As a result, the game was halted for seven minutes as Clarke – who was taken off at the break – was treated by paramedics, before being transferred to a nearby hospital.
Phillips grabbed an equaliser for Leeds in the 11th minute of additional time, and the 23-year-old says that the goal, his first of the season, was for young Clarke.
He told LUTV: “I believe he’s feeling alright. He weren’t feeling well. It was a bit surprising but all the lads wish him well.
“As we’re on the pitch we all wanted to know what was going on and how he was. You’re just constantly thinking about it. I’m glad I got the goal for him basically.”
It’s often said that moments like this put things in perspective. It was an important point for Leeds, but the result is secondary to the player’s condition.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side are top of the Championship, but second-placed Norwich City could move back to the summit by beating Ipswich Town on Sunday.
