Kalvin Phillips has stated that he is ‘disappointed’ that Leeds United are out of the EFL Cup, after their 2-0 defeat against Arsenal on Tuesday night, as he posted on his Instagram story.
The England midfielder thanked the Leeds faithful for travelling in their number to London, despite the team not being able to do the job out on the pitch.
The one positive from the match was Phillips returning to the XI and he now urged the club to focus on Sunday’s big game against Norwich City.
“Thank you to all the fans who came down to see us last night,” said Phillips.
“Disappointed to be out, but glad to be back out there. Focus on this Sunday’s match now.”
Leeds only have one Premier League win to their name this season and the performances are starting to worry supporters.
It doesn’t help that they have to deal with injuries to Phillips, Luke Ayling, Patrick Bamford, Diego Llorente and Robin Koch, to name a few.
But Phillips is now back in action and three points are very much needed at the weekend.
Norwich are by far the worst team in England’s top-flight this season – only two points to their name.
They were well and truly battered in their last encounter, when Chelsea put seven goals past them, so if Leeds manage to lose to them, then there will be serious, serious worry.
But if Marcelo Bielsa’s side can churn out that win, then that’s one team they don’t have to worry about in catching them up and causing them problems during these coming weeks.
