Leeds United central midfielder Kalvin Phillips has told the club’s official website that the morale in the camp is great despite the defeat to Blackburn Rovers.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side suffered a 2-1 defeat to Blackburn away from home at Ewood Park in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.

The loss followed the West Yorkshire outfit’s 1-1 draw with Brentford at Elland Road in the league before the international break.

The defeat to Rovers means that Leeds are now two points behind leaders Middlesbrough in fourth place.

Leeds central midfielder Phillips, 22, has said that the morale in the camp is great despite the loss.

Phillips told Leeds’s official website: “Wednesday night is massive now, I’m happy the games are coming thick and fast because after a loss you always want to put it right straight away.

“We will get back out on the training pitch now, work hard and hopefully get a positive result.

“Morale is great, we have a good set of lads and a good set of leaders, there is never a time where we don’t think we are not good enough to go out and win a game, we are always connected as a team and I think that will show throughout the season.”

Encouraging for Leeds United fans

Leeds were expected to win against Blackburn, and the Elland Road faithful will be disappointed that the team could not get the three points.

However, it is very positive and encouraging that the Leeds players are upbeat and are not down after the disappointing result on Saturday afternoon.

Leeds will return to action on Wednesday evening when they take on Ipswich Town at Elland Road in the Championship.
