Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has told the club’s official website that he would pick a trio of Brazilians and arguably the world’s best goalkeeper if he was to make four dream signings at Elland Road.

The Whites have started a new range of interviews on their website, with one sketch called “You’re the gaffer” in which the Leeds players are asked a series of questions including their four dream signings.

Gaetano Berardi was the first player to take the turn, stating that if money was no object he would sign Gianluigi Donnarumma, Sergio Ramos, Radja Nainggolan and Edin Dzeko as Leeds manager.

Phillips, 22, decided to go down the Samba route by choosing three of Brazil’s best ever players as well as Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. He also made a surprise selection for his assistant manager, if he became manager.

Asked which four dream signings he would make, Phillips answered to the point: “Manuel Neuer, Dani Alves, Ronaldinho, Neymar”, as well as telling fans he would ask Leeds midfield partner Ronaldo Vieira to be his assistant.

The Leeds academy graduate has been in superb form for the Whites, controlling his tough-tackling nature and aggression with a maturity that has seen him remain tenacious in attack but clever in defence.

Making 19 appearances in all competitions, Phillips is now Leeds’ first-choice central midfielder and has scored five goals this season with strikes against Sheffield United, Ipswich Town, Burton Albion and a brace against Bolton Wanderers.

Phillips is likely to start for Thomas Christiansen’s side once again on Saturday afternoon as the Whites travel to London to face Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road.
