Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips is said to be on Aston Villa’s radar.

Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips looks like exactly the sort of player Aston Villa need following their promotion to the Premier League.
The Whites will be reluctant to sell, but Leeds fans know better than most that when Premier League clubs come calling it can be hard to keep top talent.
And if Villa do submit a big offer for Phillips he could be an ideal addition to their squad.
Dean Smith is going to have to be ruthless at Villa this summer, and there is definitely space for a combative, defensive midfielder to be brought in.
John McGinn’s space in Villa’s midfield looks secure, but relying on Glenn Whelan or Conor Hourihane to be permanent starters at Premier League level may not be advisable.
While Hourihane and Whelan both played huge roles in getting Villa promoted, Phillips looks like he could be an upgrade on either of them.

The Leeds man would bring bite and tenacity to Villa’s midfield, and his partnership with McGinn would be seriously robust.
If Villa’s defence had Phillips and McGinn working in tandem to protect them, then the claret and blues would prove a very tricky opponent to beat.
And Smith should be doing everything he can to try and bring in Phillips from Leeds this summer.
