Kalvin Phillips is seemingly edging closer to heading for the Leeds United exit door and donning the colours of Manchester City.
If the rumoured £43 million transfer goes through without any issues, then he will be playing alongside some of the best players, not just in the Premier League, but in Europe itself.
One of them is none other than perhaps the best midfielder in the world in Kevin de Bruyne, and when Manchester City showcased footage of the £55 million man’s best goals in their colours, the Instagram post was liked by Phillips himself.
Perhaps the hard-hitting Leeds midfielder is starting to dream about what it will be like playing by his side, week in and week out next season because the duo could form quite a partnership in the middle of the park.
LEEDS LOSING PHILLIPS A BIG BLOW
The journey Phillips has been on with the Leeds fans has been quite incredible, from coming through as a fresh-faced teenager to helping the club get back where they belong.
Under Marcelo Bielsa, the Englishman was one of the key players and main reasons why the Yorkshire outfit returned back to the Premier League.
Whilst it will be tough for the Elland Road faithful to lose someone like Raphinha, having to watch Phillips leave also will be an even bigger blow and it will hurt more.
The simple reason being that the ‘Yorkshire Pirlo’ has been on this current journey from the start, and most importantly, he is one of their own.
But, for someone like Jesse Marsch, he can’t dwell on it too longer and the club have to react if they are to move forward from last season’s relegation fight.
Three new faces have already arrived, and if their two star players are to leave, then it wouldn’t be a surprise if Leeds are one of the busier teams of the 2022 summer transfer window.
