Garry Monk’s Leeds United have won four matches on the bounce
Kalvin Phillips has told LUTV, quoted by The Star, that there is plenty more to come from Leeds United this season, and reveals their target of a playoff spot.
Leeds beat Ipswich Town 1-0 at Elland Road on Saturday for what was their fourth successive victory in all competitions.
Three of those wins have come in the Championship in a run of form which has transformed their season and renewed the feel-good factor at the Yorkshire club.
Manager Garry Monk experienced a difficult opening five or six weeks as Leeds boss, culminating in speculation over his future after picking up one win in six games.
But now it’s four Championship wins in nine outings and their campaign is finally beginning to take shape.
Consequently, the Whites sit 12th in England’s second tier, three points off the top six, and Phillips says that their target for the season is finishing in the playoff positions – and claims United will gradually improve.
“There is still more to come because we are actually disappointed not to come away with a 3-0 or 4-0 victory, but three points is three points and we are happy to take them,” he told LUTV, via The Star.
“We need to keep this momentum going now and start climbing the table.
“The play-offs are the main target but for now we need to concentrate on just getting as high up the table as we can.”
The prospect of Leeds continuing to improve is a very exciting one. Of course, there is still a long way to go, but you get the impression that the playing staff has bought into Monk’s methods and there is a sense that they will only get better over time.
