Premier League outfit Everton have been reportedly scouting Leeds United’s Championship midfielder Kalvin Phillips.

Leeds United just aren’t the same team without Kalvin Phillips.
The 23-year-old academy graduate is the man who makes Leeds tick and he is integral to the possession-based style introduced at Elland Road by Marcelo Bielsa. And with The Whites seemingly getting their title challenge back on track, it is no surprise that Phillips has been front and centre.
It was his header, in the 101st minute no less, that rescued a point at Middlesbrough on Saturday and Phillips was arguably the best player on the pitch in Tuesday’s 2-1 win against Swansea City, producing a masterclass in central midfield.
The potential downside to Phillips’ outstanding form, however, is that interest from further up the footballing pyramid will only intensify.
TEAMtalk claimed in the Autumn that 12 Premier League sides were scouting the versatile midfielder with Everton among them.

Now, Phillips is exactly the sort of rough diamond who Everton’s sporting director Marcel Brands has built his reputation on while the youngster looks an absolutely perfect fit for the struggling head coach Marco Silva.
Blessed with outstanding technical skills and the ability to control the tempo from the base of midfield, Phillips appears to be exactly the kind of player who Silva is crying out for.
Don’t be surprised then, if Everton make a move next summer regardless of which league Leeds find themselves in.
