The Athletic are reporting that Leeds United will not sell Kalvin Phillips in the summer transfer window.

The report has added that Leeds are ‘conscious’ that the England international midfielder ‘may merit a pay rise’.

It has also been claimed that talks with striker Patrick Bamford over a new contract are going well.

Encouraging for Leeds United fans

There are no credible reports that Phillips is on the list of rival clubs who would like to sign him.

But, we all know that it does not take long for transfer rumours and speculation to start.

Imagine if England win Euro 2020. Imagine if Phillips scores the winning goal with a stunning effort in the final.

That will make clubs sit up and take notice.

Phillips is a Leeds fan who turned down a move to Aston Villa to help the club win promotion to the Premier League.

The 25-year-old will not force a move away from the Whites.

Leeds’s stance of not selling Phillips is very encouraging, but perhaps, the West Yorkshire club should also give him a new contract with better terms.

The midfielder last signed a new deal in September 2019 and is under contract at Elland Road until the summer of 2024.
