Burnley manager Sean Dyche has raved about Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips, as quoted in LancsLive.
The Clarets will take on Leeds at Turf Moor in the Premier League today.
Ahead of the game, Dyche has shared his admiration of Leeds star Phillips, who helped England reach the final of Euro 2020 this summer.
The Burnley manager has also said that he wanted to sign the 25-year-old from Leeds two years ago, but the club could not afford to pay what the Whites were asking for him.
LancsLive quotes Dyche as saying about Phillips’s development: “I’m not surprised, no.
“I thought he was a very good player then and I think he’s a very good player now. He’s developed since then and continues to do so, so fair play to him.
“He was a player we were interested in, but unfortunately the finance was out of our range.
“I liked him then and I like him now, I think he’s a very good player who has shown that. It doesn’t need me to say that and he’s shown that.”

Big player for Leeds and England
Phillips has been superb for Leeds over the years and is now one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old has developed and improved his game a lot under Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa.

The England international featured in the Premier League for only the first time last season, but he was still able to earn a place in the England squad for the European Championship this summer.
Not only that, but Phillips also played a big role in the team’s success, providing one assist in seven matches at Euro 2020.
The Leeds star scored one goal and gave two assists in 28 Premier League starts last season.
