Kalvin Phillips insists he’s more than willing to play out of position for Leeds United

Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has been used as a number 10 at times this season.

Kalvin Phillips has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that he has no problem featuring as a number 10 for Leeds United.

Phillips is most comfortable functioning as a defensive shield in front of Leeds’ defence.

However, there has been occasions where Phillips has been utilised in a more advanced role.

And the young midfielder insists that he has no qualms with performing a different role, if the side needs helping out.

“Obviously we can rotate the midfield and I’m happy getting forward,” said Phillips. “I like scoring goals, I like having shots and if the manager asks me to play there then I’m not going to say no.”

Phillips is unlikely to play as a number 10 for Leeds any time soon, as Thomas Christiansen’s attacking options are looking strong.

Samu Saiz, Pablo Hernandez and Kemar Roofe are all more natural creative influences than Phillips.

Phillips still has an important role to play at Leeds though, with his partnership alongside Ronaldo Vieira developing over the course of the campaign.

Leeds are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Newport County in the FA Cup.
