Kalvin Phillips has told BBC Radio Leeds that criticism he has faced from Leeds United supporters has not affected him.

Phillips has been a regular pick by both Garry Monk and Thomas Christiansen over the past two seasons, but the youngster still has some doubters in the Elland Road crowd.

While some Leeds fans appreciate Phillips for his combativeness and energy, others are less convinced.

But the youngster insists that he doesn’t let any flak he has taken from supporters impact on his confidence.

He said: “I just think it’s part of football. You have to keep your head up, no matter what.

“Even if you are losing games, you’re not going to lose every game of the season. I just believe if the team is working hard and we have a good spirit, nothing can stop us.”

Phillips certainly seems to have earned Christiansen’s trust, with his performances over the first half of the campaign.

The youngster has played 21 times in the Championship this season, scoring five times and claiming two assists.

Phillips has helped Leeds climb into the promotion race, with Leeds currently lurking just outside the play off places.

Leeds are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Hull City at Elland Road.
