Goalkeeping coach Alessandro Barcherini has confirmed he is leaving Leeds United with a post on Instagram – and the well-liked 36-year-old has received messages from Kalvin Phillips, Gaetano Berardi and other Leeds players.
Barcherini joined Leeds during Marcelo Bielsa’s reign, back in 2019. The Italian has spent the last three years with the club, joining in the same season that the club signed current no.1 Illan Meslier.

His tutorship has been crucial to the growth of Meslier, who is one of the first names on the Leeds team sheet. Indeed, Meslier is closing in on a senior call-up to the France squad – as Tottenham skipper Hugo Lloris grows older.
The ex-Notts County assistant manager and Stoke City coach has now confirmed he is leaving Leeds – with his contract ending this summer. He posted a heartfelt message to Leeds fans on Instagram, underlining his pride at promotion.

It is another of Bielsa’s era to depart. Jesse Marsch is stamping his authority on the Leeds side. As time goes on, it is becoming more and more like his Leeds – rather than managing Bielsa’s Leeds.
Indeed, the club have also brought in a new assistant manager in Rene Maric, while Leeds have also made six signings. Bielsa favourites Phillips and Raphinha have also left the club this summer, to the tune of around £100million.
Clearly, Barcherini was very well-liked at Elland Road and plenty of Leeds players have responded to his post. Stuart Dallas, Rodrigo, Meslier and more commented – as did Phillips and Berardi, wishing the Italian well.
