Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford has been out for months.
Bamford joined Leeds in the summer transfer window, but he was quickly ruled out with injury.
The striker has now been missing for months, but he is starting to train again.
And Phillips admits that even Leeds’ players have not seen much of what Bamford can do to date.
“We’ve still got January to come and we’ve got Izzy Brown to come back. We’ve got Pat too and we haven’t really seen much of him,” Phillips said.
“Once our injured players come back we’ll feel a lot more confident but the confidence is flowing anyway and you could see in the second half [against Bristol City] the way we were passing it about. I thought we did it exceptionally well.”
When Bamford was brought in at Leeds it was expected that he would become Marcelo Bielsa’s side main striker.
However, he now faces a fight to win a place in Leeds’ team, even when he is fit.
Kemar Roofe has been in fine form this season, with the forward scoring seven goals in 11 games.
Leeds are next in action later this evening, when they take on Reading.
