Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips appears to have a key role to play under Marcelo Bielsa.

Phillips looks set to have a key role to play for Leeds this season, in his shielding midfield position.
The youngster was tasked with protecting Leeds defence against Forest Green, and often played in a central defensive position during the contest.
And Phillips has suggested that the demands that Bielsa has set him has already got him into peak physical condition.

He said: “I’ve lost quite a bit of weight and gained quite a bit of muscle. I’m happy with that and I’m trying to get myself in the best shape possible. Your first 90 minutes are always tough but I felt fairly comfortable out there.”
Phillips still has his doubters in the Elland Road crowd, but every Leeds manager in recent times has made him a key player.

The prospect still has room to develop, but his energy and work-rate could make him an important figure in Bielsa’s side.
Leeds won their first pre-season friendly against Bury 2-1, and showed signs of promise that they were starting to adapt to Bielsa’s game plan.
