Kalvin Phillips has admitted to LUTV that he has a touch of nerves since Leeds United appointed a new head coach.
Thomas Christiansen was named as Garry Monk’s successor at Elland Road earlier this month as the Leeds squad look to impress the 44-year-old Dane.
Phillips was firmly in Monk’s plans last season, having made 33 Championship appearances, and the 21-year-old midfielder admits there’s a bit of anxiety in not knowing whether or not he will appeal to the new man.
Asked by LUTV if he has any nerves since the new boss has come in, Phillips said: “Yeah I suppose there’s always nerves with a new manager.
“You don’t know whether he’s going to like you or not but all you can do is give your best.”
Phillips has been in and around Leeds’ senior set up for over two years, having broken into the first-team squad under Steve Evans during the 2015-16 campaign.
And the talented midfielder should not be overly concerned about whether Christiansen will like him when, odds are, he will.
He is a fine talent who will only get better and better and he will hope to enjoy another fruitful season in Yorkshire this term.
