The Premier League is widely regarded as the best league in the world, but football’s true superstars often head to Spain instead.

Indeed, the best of the best usually end up at either Barcelona or Real Madrid, and over the years, we’ve seen the likes of Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Lionel Messi and Neymar star in La Liga, while silently wishing they’d come to England.

Kaka is another star who ended up in La Liga rather than the Premier League, but, once upon a time, the Brazilian almost came to England.

Indeed, back in the late 2000s, Manchester City were splashing the cash, and, at one point, they looked to sign Kaka for £100m.

Now, 15 years or so later, speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s podcast Kaka has discussed how he views City as a club.

Kaka loves watching Manchester City

The AC Milan legend was asked if he watches much of the Premier League these days.

Kaka replied saying that he watches a lot of English football, naming Manchester City as a team he really enjoys watching due to Pep Guardiola’s style of play.

“Do you watch English football?” Kaka was asked.

“Yes, a lot. Manchester City, it’s a very specific, Pep, his way, you can see the identity of the team, the club. Haaland is doing amazing, a lot of goals. I like to watch Estevao now, he’s doing really good at Chelsea,” Kaka said.

Of course, Pep Guardiola has just left Manchester City, but his legacy will continue as his former assistant, Enzo Maresca, is set to take charge.

Maresca will likely continue to play a similar style, and City will likely remain one of the most entertaining and dominant teams in the world.

Kaka never played for Manchester City, but he is certainly an admirer from afar.

In another world, Kaka could’ve been a City legend in his own right.
