Kai Trump, granddaughter of former US President Donald Trump, is set to make her professional debut this week at The ANNIKA driven by Gainbridge, held at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida.
The event, part of the LPGA Tour calendar, has extended three sponsor invitations for the field. Kai was among those selected.
Golf has long been a part of the Trump family’s routine. Donald Trump is known for his frequent rounds and public involvement in the sport. Now Kai, an 18-year-old high school senior committed to playing college golf at Miami in 2026, is beginning her own journey in the game.
She’s drawn plenty of attention on social media already and will be grouped with Japan’s Hinako Shibuno and Germany’s Olivia Cowan for her opening round.
How Kai Trump reacted to questions about beating her grandfather at golf
Kai Trump met with the media ahead of her first round, where she was asked about how her games against her grandfather usually go.
“He’s pretty good,” she said. “We have some tight matches. Yeah, can’t say much. We have some tight matches.”
When asked if she had ever beaten him, Trump played it cool: “I’ll leave that up to you to decide. I don’t know. We play a lot. We have a great time out there. We’re always on the same team as well.”
She was also asked who helps her with her game and whether the former President had given her any advice heading into the event.
“Well, I kind of… I know my game pretty well so I have a few people watch things over,” she said.

The 18-year-old senior is already committed to play college golf in Miami in 2026. She’ll tee off alongside Hinako Shibuno and Olivia Cowan in her opening round.

Sorenstam said: “I don’t know anything about that. But I met his mom and his sister and the whole crew today.“So it was kind of cool just meeting all of them.”
Trump may just get nervous given the star-studded field taking on the tournament this week, which includes Nelly Korda.

The American is no longer world number one and has yet to win this season but she has dominated The ANNIKA.
