Arsenal picked up another three points on Saturday evening, coasting past Brighton and Hove Albion with a 3-0 victory at the Amex Stadium.

The Gunners were looking to make it two wins in a matter of days having eased past Luton Town in midweek.

Arsenal got the job done with another professional performance, taking the lead from the penalty spot in the first half.

Tariq Lamptey brought down Gabriel Jesus inside the box Bukayo Saka sent Bart Verbruggen the wrong way to give Arsenal a 1-0 advantage.

Kai Havertz added number two from close range before the German sent Leandro Trossard clear to make it 3-0 against his former side.

Three goals and three points is always great to see, but another clean sheet just hammers home Arsenal’s defensive dominance.

Few attackers want to face William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes right now with the latter coming in for huge praise of late.

Kai Havertz on Gabriel Magalhaes

Saliba usually earns rave reviews but Gabriel is proving himself to be every bit as good as the Frenchman this season.

Sometimes criticised as rash earlier in his Arsenal career and even left out of the Arsenal starting XI at the start of the campaign, Gabriel now looks absolutely dominant.

The Brazilian has taken his game to another level this season and he took to social media to react to another clean sheet on Saturday.

Gabriel celebrated a ‘massive win’ in a ‘really difficult stadium’ before praising Arsenal fans for their support.

Teammates responded with Declan Rice simply stating ‘mentality’ whilst Trossard indicated that Gabriel is a brick wall.

Technical director Edu offered his support and praise whilst goalscorer Havertz simply branded Gabriel a ‘machine’ as he helped the Gunners to another clean sheet.

Arsenal’s defensive numbers are unbelievable

Arsenal have done a great job of limiting opponents in terms of volume and quality of chances all season.

Brighton’s blank on Saturday means Arsenal have kept three clean sheets in a row since coming back from the international break.

Yet if you go a little further, Arsenal’s defensive excellence has been clear throughout 2024.

In the 11 Premier League games Arsenal have played since the turn of the year, Arsenal have conceded just four goals.

Nottingham Forest, Liverpool, Newcastle United and Brentford all managed a goal each but all ended up being beaten by Arsenal.

That is seven clean sheets since the end of 2023 and Arsenal look almost impenetrable at times.

Mikel Arteta may have some quality defenders at his disposal but he also deserves praise for coaching such a cohesive unit and Arsenal have a real change to prove the old adage that ‘defence wins championships’.
