Newcastle United are interested in signing former Liverpool loanee Ozan Kabak, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed on Twitter that Torino have made a loan bid to sign Kabak from Schalke in the summer transfer window.

However, Schalke have refused.

That’s because, according to Romano, the German club want a permanent sale for the Turkey international centre-back, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Liverpool from Schalke.

Talks between Torino and Schalke are going on.

Romano has added that Newcastle are also interested in the 21-year-old central defender, but the Premier League outfit have yet to make an official bid for a player Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp described as “absolutely incredible” on the club’s official website in March 2021.

Could a Newcastle transfer happen?

It seems that Schalke are willing to sell Kabak, but the German club are not interested in a loan exit.

This means that Newcastle will have to pay a transfer fee for the 21-year-old central defender.

It has been reported that Newcastle have spent their budget on signing midfielder Joe Willock from Arsenal this summer.

This suggests that the Magpies may not be able to afford to sign Kabak before the summer transfer window closes next week.
