West Ham United should ensure they sign Angel Gomes on loan in any deal for Marko Arnautovic.
West Ham United are quick out the blocks this summer in regards to transfer business, as Manuel Pellegrini looks to get the Hammers back to playing attacking football, but Manchester United are dampening the mood with their increasing interest in Marko Arnautovic according to Sky Sports.
There is no doubting the new Hammers boss is keen on the idea of bringing young talent to the London Stadium ahead of next term, having had a reported move for Manchester City’s academy prodigy Phil Foden rejected, according to the Telegraph, and the Chilean could have bargaining power over another burgeoning talent in Manchester.
United’s Angel Gomes has yet to be given a serious chance to showcase his immense talents at Old Trafford since his first-team debut in May 2017 – at the age of just 16 – having failed to register a second appearance in the Premier League this time round.
And playing time for the young Englishman is unlikely to be a high priority for Mourinho as he looks to mount a serious title challenge next season, having finished 19 points behind their bitter City rivals.
An extended loan in east London certainly is not beyond the realms of possibility.
The Portuguese boss has identified the Hammers’ top scorer Arnautovic as a prime target this summer, and travelled to Germany to watch him in international duty for Austria this week.
However, Pellegrini seems defiant over one of his best players and is said to be demanding £50 million to open serious negotiations.
If the Chilean can make the suggestion of bringing Gomes to West Ham in any deal though, the departure may not be such a pivotal one as fans are suggesting.
