Ben Davies’ first-team position could be in jeopardy, with Tottenham Hotspur reportedly pushing for the signing of assist machine Alex Telles.

Mauricio Pochettino is looking to bolster Tottenham Hotspur’s squad this summer, after signing a four-year extension with the club yesterday, and he appears to have identified Porto full-back Alex Telles as one of his potential targets, according to a report from Sky Sports.
With Danny Rose likely to depart the club this summer, Mauricio Pochettino is looking for further options at left-back and he is said to be keen on signing the Brazilian from the Pimeira Liga, who is quickly emerging as one of Europe’s finest prospects in his position.

The 25-year-old moved to the Portuguese giants from Galatasaray in 2016 and instantly shone at left-back, as his new club secured their first league title in five years last term.
The current first-team left-back at Tottenham should be worried for his place if Pochettino decides to move for the player’s services, as Telles has become renowned for his sensational attacking contribution, amassing 20 assists in 45 appearances from defence, while the Welshman has registered six in all competitions this season.

It is no secret that Pochettino likes his defenders to attack, often being deployed as wing-backs to accommodate Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen as inside-forwards and it seems Davies cannot compete on that front with the Brazilian.
Only time will tell if Tottenham bring Telles to north London but, if they do, he already has one big advantage over the Welshman.
