Liverpool have been linked with a move for Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele since the beginning of the window.

Jurgen Klopp wants to speak to Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele and strangely, his mother, to convince the player to join his project at Liverpool ahead of next season, according to a report from Mundo Deportivo.

The German has always been a huge admirer of the French international, having seen him blossom at his former club Borussia Dortmund after his departure, but the logistics of pulling off such a huge deal make this pursuit an extremely difficult one.

Dembele is undecided on whether or not to stay at the Camp Nou after just a single season in Spain, while Liverpool are said to be keen on a loan-deal, with numbers for a permanent deal being touted upwards of £88 million, according to Metro.

Klopp will reportedly contact the 21-year-old – and his mother – with a view to persuading him that a move to Merseyside is the best option for him next term, and to explain the role he would play with the Reds.

Dembele enjoyed a good debut season with the Catalan giants, bagging four goals and nine assists despite frequent injuries, but the potential arrival of Antoine Griezmann (Daily Star) would likely resign him to the role of a bit-part player next term.
