Newcastle United are reportedly set to rival a host of European clubs for the signing of Chilean goal-scorer Nicholas Castillo this summer.
Chilean striker Nicolas Castillo is the latest striking addition that has been added to the Newcastle United wish-list this summer, with the club looking to bolster their attacking options ahead of next season, as reported by Portuguese outlet O Jogo.
Magpie manager Rafa Benitez is said to be a keen admirer of the forward’s talents and has been impressed by last season’s efforts, with the 25-year-old bagging 12 goals in 24 appearances across all competitions for current side UNAM Pumas in Liga MX (Mexico).
However, if the Spaniard is to secure the striker’s services, he will have to fend off Serie A duo Bologna and Sampdoria, with Portuguese giants SL Benfica also reportedly readying a £6million bid.
Should the move fall through, there are a number of other potential candidates been touted to join the Magpies’ ranks though, with Spartak Moscow’s Dutch talisman Quincy Promes said to be interested in joining the Premier League side, via the Newcastle Chronicle.
Moves for new personnel at the club will likely be put on hold for now, until the manager’s situation is fully resolved. Things are looking positive for Newcastle fans though, as owner Mike Ashley is said to have promised a £50million transfer budget (Daily Express) to keep their star manager at the helm.
