Following an impressive domestic season, seeing Tottenham secure a top three finish for the third consecutive year, newly appointed England skipper Harry Kane has lauded his teammate Dele Alli as a ‘game-changer’, in quotes via Tottenham’s official website.

The 22-year-old contributed directly to 31 goals in all competitions this campaign, earning the inevitable call-up for international duties, ahead of England’s World Cup push this summer in Russia.

And Kane was full of praise for the midfielder, claiming: “Dele has scored goals, assisted goals and he’s a game changer.”

The Premier League’s second highest goal-scorer highlighted Alli’s ability to step up with moments of real quality when under pressure, reverting back to possibly his best goal of the season against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

“He has that ability where he can change a game in a second. You saw that earlier this season at Stamford Bridge with his great run, great touch and great finish to win us the game. In the big moments in the big games he’s there – and he enjoys those moments.”

Kane also came to Alli’s defence over difficult moments throughout the season, notably away from the football pitch, but asserted that people should remember Alli is still young.

“I think sometimes people lose sight of his age. He just has to stay positive, keep doing what he’s doing year after year and be consistent – that’s most important.”

There’s no doubting that if Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions squad are to have a successful tournament, both players will have to be firing on all cylinders.

If the duo can replicate their understanding in England colours it would put the team in good stead against the world’s very best.
